Who We Are
Dr. Meena Julapalli is a board-certified pediatric dermatologist in Houston, Texas, and a proud joyologist in the school of life.
What brings her joy? So many things! But at the top of her list is being around and working with children. She has been lucky enough never to lose the sense of wonder, curiosity, and awe she had as a child about the world and everyone and everything in it. It is her life’s mission to help children continue to cultivate those inherent abilities of learning, thinking, and experiencing through their heart so that they may discover what brings them joy and sing their own unique song.

The Joyful Path’s mission is to build a community that together encourages and inspires people—particularly children—to discover, experience, cultivate, embrace, and share the joy of their unique gifts with the world. How do we do that? By redefining our relationship with ourselves, each other, and the world around us through offerings that nourish our mind, body, and soul.

When Meena first approached us about Emma illustrating this book, I thought it would be a great opportunity for her to showcase her talent. Then Meena sent me the words, and I was stunned. We had all really been struggling with learning Emma had autism, and this was the exact message Emma needed. I truly believe this was meant to be! So many kids who are neurotypical, neurodivergent, or have medical conditions need to hear this message of joy, love, and empowerment. Every kid has amazing potential and can do great things! Thank you, Meena, for being a champion and advocate for all kids and spreading joy in this world!! — Stasha Lewis
PROUD DAD ALERT: I’ve shared my daughter’s art before, but I’ve never been able to announce that she’s a published illustrator…until now! Authored by a wonderful pediatrician with whom my wife and I trained, Listen To The Song In My Heart is out! This was truly a labor of love, years in the making by Dr. Julapalli, who embodies the joy of authentic self-expression and encourages her young patients to do the same. It was also a chance for my daughter to use her talents in a medium that offers her both a creative outlet and solace. Shared with permission, Emma has high-functioning autism and struggles with some socialization, but she can “say” things with images that I never could with words! Thanks to all of you who have sent such kind words of encouragement to a gifted young painter and allowed her to voice the song in her heart. — Mark Lewis
